We all love chocolates, right? (If you don’t, what kind of weirdo are you?)
Chocolates bring out the kid in us. We are no different when it comes to chocolates and one of our favourite chocolate in the whole world is Ferrero Raffaello.
This is the story of how we discovered Raffaello and became its fan
When we were in Hungary in 2017, we used to buy random chocolates daily from supermarkets as we found them to be quite cheap. During this random trying phase, we got one chocolate box which was white and red in color and had Raffaello written on it. The first Raffaello we had was quite interesting- with its coconut-y exterior, gooey centre and hazelnut surprise inside. We tried another one and then another one until both of us finished the entire box. By that time, we had realized this chocolate is going in our Chocolate-Hall-of-Fame.
Raffaello isn’t easily available in India and wherever it’s available, it’s super expensive. So we hadn’t ever thought of trying it before. After this revelation in Hungary, whichever country we visit, Raffaello search is a part of our itinerary. If we find it, we bring separate boxes for both of us so that we don’t fight over who ate more. If we don’t get separate boxes, we count individual pieces, divide it equally among ourselves so that we don’t poach each other’s share.
Yes, we know it’s silly but it’s also super fun when one person runs out of their share before the other (usually it’s Tan) and you get to tease them about it.
Couple more funny incidents related to Raffaello – One such instance was when we munched on one large box just waiting for a bus in Athens. We did some shopping at a supermarket and while waiting for the bus, got a bit hungry. No better excuse to consume your favourite chocolate, right?
By now, even our friends and parents know we both like this chocolate the most and they get it for us whenever possible. Our parents visited London this summer and while coming back to India, they tried to get us some Raffaello. They could not find it where they were staying. So while coming back, they specially asked in the duty free store to get them at least one pack of Raffaello. The duty free staffs were kind enough to procure it even though they didn’t have it in their current stock. Now days when we go home after a trip, our parents have started asking us “Where is Raffaello?”.
We have successfully spread the love for this chocolate among our friends and family as well (evil grin).
